Kallysten has written an intense, action-packed vampire story that is sure to please any paranormal fan. Readers are instantly thrown into a battle of wits between the hunter and the hunted. For Vincent and Lilia, it is never really clear which one is the hunter and which one is the hunted. The realistic plot of one’s life changing its course because of one moment is a wonderful additional. (...) Kallysten has done a tremendous job creating a vampire, Lilia, that is passionate and one that readers are sure to remember for quite some time.

'CheckMate' is a worthy addition to the thriving vampire romance sub-genre. Kallysten reprises some of the best loved features of vampire fiction but brings out a new and appealing facet in her story of enemies turned lovers.
